Ain't it a glorious day?
During the winter it's easy to find comfort in the classroom. The wind blows outside, it rains, it's too cold. On the days when the sun doesn't seem to rise, the dread of leaving the desk overtakes the boredom of staying in it. During Autumn you can sit staring out the window, ignoring whatever class you may be in, watching the freshly coloured leaves fall to the ground. Spring however brings impatience, a need to get outside. there is something in Spring that regenerates birth and restlessness. Mothers give birth and those that can't, either because of age or other difficulties, long to until they ache. Children in classrooms move edgily around their seats, waiting for the bell, waiting for three o'clock. In England I'd go home to my swing and swing for hours. Here I put on my headphones, grab a book and sunscreen, and go lay by the pool. However, whether I'm swinging or laying, the need to be outside in Spring is overwhelming....
