Light Up, Light Up As If You Have A Choice

You’ll never know how I watched you from the shadows as a child
You’ll never know how it feels to be the one who’s left behind

They won't leave in the night, I've no fear that they might desert me
Diamonds are forever

'I'll take two beers please', 'do you have a wrist band?' 'no...' 'nice try'

Does anyone remember Coach Chaska Potter? 8th grade P.E. (often labelled hell in the disguise of overly long shorts, heavy teeshirts, kicks to the shins, and balls to the nose). Well if you do then I'm sure that you will remember that she was in a band, Raining Jane. Last night I went to their concert with Lizzy Karp. Well, we went to the troubador in hopes of seeing her band perform. However after watching the latter half of Lizzy's Midsummer nights dream rehearsal it was evident we had missed the band, yet, being the troopers we are, we still went. Imagine for me, if you will, the care bears at a kiss concert. Lizzy in a turqouise tank top and skirt very well matched with blue, pink, and i think yellow stripes, and me in a pink bolaro and silver shoes, surrounded by piercings, tatoos, and more black than should ever be in one place at one time. That combined with us lowering the average age by at least 15 years, and being about a foot shorter than the rest of the audience, could have played some part in our not quite being at home. Yet we persisted, trying to find chaska, assuming of course she would not recognize us, 2 of the many students she had 2 years ago, not forgetting that combined we were not quite the athletic superstars a teacher in such a field would treasure. So we walked from the entrance to the bathroom (on the otherside) and then from the bathroom to the bar (back to the first side), then to the entrance to backstage (back the bathroom side), then the other stage entrance (back to the first side), when, after stepping on our fair share of toes, and smiling innocently at the aging, angry faces, we saw her. does anyone remember her being exeptionally tall, pretty, and skinny? because i dont...i remember red shorts, white teeshirts, and running shoes...im sure glamour in disguise for some...however for me, the emphasis is on disguise. Yet there she was, and we were pleasently suprised to be meeted with a look of complete shock and yet happiness. Even more suprisingly she hugged us and took about 10 minutes to ask about everything, noticing that i now have braces, lizzy doesnt, and that we still aren't figures of intesne physical stature. And then we left, after backing into a rather large, stocky bodyguard, and into Mr.Karp's car. not the sort of night i expected my first troubador experience to be, not to mention i never expected to be at a teachers concert in hollywood...but it was fun, and memorable none the less.
