What if you should decide that you don't want me there by your side, that you don't want me there in your life?
Families are funny businesses. They're the ones that are always around whenever you need them, whenever you don't, they always love you. They provide everything, from a place to live, to unconditional support, theyre the ones who take care of you when you're sick, and remember your birthday no matter what. And even so, theyre the ones who you spend your life trying to get away from. the stereotypical teen rebels against, argues with, and ignores his/her family. I'm not quite the stereotypical teen. for the most part, i get on great with my parents, and i'm pretty close with my brother. but that can be a problem in disguise. i'm the baby, the overprotected, over attentioned, over tucked in little sister/youngest child. it has its perks, don't get me wrong. i can get away with murder, blame everything on james, and i always have my daddy's wallet close at hand. but with all the plusses come the minusses. Recently i got in a fight with my brother, a fight that has thus far lasted a week and a day. its because he thinks that i flirt with his friends and they flirt back, and that makes him uncomfortable. so he told me not to hang out with him and his friends because i embarass him. he told me this infront of his friends and mine. I embarass HIM??? Anyways, the only thing worse than his accusations being false (a)i dont have a crush on any of his friends anymore, and b) hooking up with one of my brothers friends is so inapropriate and wrong that i wouldnt anyways), is that it's because in his eyes i need protecting. its cute in a way, but in another horribly irritating. hes older, wiser, cooler, much more intelligent...i realize that, sure, but im not some 3 year old, inexperienced, geek, vegetable! i dont need my hand held. i hang out with people his age, ive hooked up with people his age and older...in other peoples eyes, im not what he sees me as, so its infuriating to me that to him im still in pigtails. i know its in the job description, i know its hard for him to get used to me growing older and being with boys, i know hes meant to overprotect me. but i wish hed figure out a way to tone it down. or else he'll find out what its like to have a babysister that does everything behind his back...which i already have to sort of do because hes picked up the unbelievable hobby of telling my parents EVERYTHING that i tell him, even stuff i asked him not to. its like hes 7 again...a tattle tail whos mean to me infront of his friends because he thinks it makes him look cooler...he even asked justin how awkward i was making everything when i asked if we could have the poolroom...r u kidding?! being mean to me behind my back infront of my face to MY BOYFRIEND! the sad thing is i dont think he's going to appologize, ive been waiting sinse last saturday. And i know that if he doesnt say hes sorry, then its because he doesnt think hes done anything wrong. And that worries me...what if he never realizes i've grown up? what if he always pushes me away for being too young? what if i'm never old enough to be any part of his life besides 4 years younger?
